100 Posts in 100 Days: Day 12
Jan. 12th, 2012 12:39 pmReally happy today!
I had mentioned in one of my previous post that I had a job doing what could best be called forensic coding--it's a big site and they're having massive slowdown problems when their database goes under heavy load.
Last couple of days have just been setup stuff, like setting up a mirror site to be used as dev and writing trapping functions that will capture any queries that are taking too long and all that. In fact, the mirror site is peacefully uploading even as I type this, and we're trying to find out if the site already has phpMyAdmin installed. If we can't find that out by tomorrow, we'll install it ourselves.
Anyway, I have already discovered the most likely cause for the problem and the fix is removing one letter from a command.
This doesn't mean that we're not going to go over stuff just the same, but that discovery is a home run with all the bases loaded!
Further contributing to my good mood is that one of the little jobs is now done, as it lent itself well to getting finished while I was waiting on other things :)
