from many on the flist :)

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 10 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song. (Skip the instrumentals, the remixes and the mashups)

Heh, this is really a mixed bag. There's some classic 80's stuff and more recent stuff that's a bit more obscure, so I've given a bit extra if the first line is very short... we have one cover here from a very well-known artist--in fact, the original artist is not near as well known although most will know the song right away.

Thanks for knowing #9. That was driving me crazy since I knew the band but not their name.. and I would have gotten the name of the song wrong. Was getting close to using Google.

Guh, and TV Guide putting the original video up for Valentine's Day!

By the way, didn't Moby cover "That's What's Happening" from Schoolhouse Rock? Originally by Bob Dorough? I get my thing in action.... Good times. Goooooood times.

Yes! *punches air* I'm not the only person on earth who liked that album!

It's SchoolHouse Rock! Rocks and yes it's moby. "Verb: that's what's happening..."

That one and Skee-Lo's "The tale of Mr. Morton" (Mr. Morton is the subject of the sentence and what the predicate says, he does...) are my two favorites off the album.

Yeah, I'm one of the bazillion people out there who still can sing the entire Preamble to the Constitution. (And remember when it was just Multiplication Rock..."is brought to you by...Nabiscooooo").

I was gonna share, but since #4 is still up for grabs, I might as well call it -- "In the Dark" by Billy Squier.

"Grammar's not your gramma it's your grammar... Grammar Rock is brought to you by... your very favorite General, General Foods"

That's really scary...

They have the whole Schoolhouse Rock collection out on DVD now, I got it for my roommate's daughter and it was fun to hear all the songs again.
