Thunderstorms
May. 13th, 2005 09:34 amThe night passed uneventfully, although Lilly and I were both awoken around 2 am or so by a thunderstorm. It wasn't even really a big thunderstorm, but there were several strikes close by so they were LOUD. When I registered that it was just a storm and not a strong one at that, I just went back to sleep, and Lilly said she was awake for a short while longer but not much. Of course, in West Virginia, they pay a bit more attention just because they can get tornadoes there, whereas that's not as big an issue for me on the east coast.
One rather amusing happening... we both completely forgot we had changed time zones. *laughs*
Part of the reason we didn't catch it right away was because I was wearing my watch and it is actually on Central Time. This was not due to any planning on my part, I just hadn't gotten around to "springing" it ahead. But my laptop of course is on EDT, so I thought maybe the room clock was wrong.
I said to Lilly "oh, let me check the world time server... DUH! We're in Central Time now."
Sure enough, the room clock is right and now my laptop is too. :D
It's lovely to think we have the extra hour, since we are going to try to fully unpack and take care of a few odds and ends before heading over to registration--there's going to be a presentation at one I really want to see. Now we have plenty of time :D
