*Grumbles*
Today is the start of the planet Mercury going retrograde.
You know, I can't say I worship slavishly at Astrology's altar, and I surely don't take the daily horoscopes very seriously, but there seems to be something to some of it, and Mercury Retrograde is one of those things.
Some people get stupidly hysterical about it and act like it's some dreadful period of time. I don't--I see it more as a time when Murphy's law gains extra force, thus it's a time when it pays to be very patient.
True to form... Alan and I have decided to officially branch Nuke 7.5. I've been tweaking the code a lot, there are things that are just plain messed up, and the changes, when added up, are making the code very different from the original.
This is all well and good, not a problem. We have our own site for announcing it, www.zmc2.net (Zola and MadClarinet are where the letters come from, say it out loud and you'll get the rest of the joke), and finally, today, I got off my ass and started getting ready to transfer the necessary files so that I can do my playing and fooling around there instead of breaking SBO. As I make and document changes, then I'll push them over to SBO.
Now, do you remember the huge server crash from hell? Sure you do. (It did not, btw, take place during a Mercury Retrograde, in case you were wondering.) My hosting company had registered SBO and ZMC2 for me, so they had to transfer the dns, not really a big issue. And they did SBO. But guess what? They neglected to update ZMC2, so as a result, I can't access the site. I can't upload to the site, and I can't test the site.
THAT to me exemplifies typical Mercury Retrograde annoyance. It seems to me that I spend 90% of my time dealing with petty, irritating problems that shouldn't have been problems in the first place.
Oh well... I figure they won't get the notice of the problem until Monday, meaning with any luck it will be fixed by Wednesday.... *grumps*.
