I was relaxing and playing Deus Ex for a bit, and I am STILL laughing over this last mission.
So, I am in Picus Tower and have to take the funicular, and of course the building is CRAWLING with mercenary types. I'm still playing as much of a non-lethal game as possible, so I manage to sneak through the worst areas without getting caught. I get to the level where the funicular is, and take out the guards at the entrance to start with.
In the room with the door to the funicular itself, there are two more guards, and after much effort I manage to take them down as well, and I hack the computer that controls the turret that is helping cover the room and the camera. I also shut off the damn alarm, which has been blaring the WHOLE time--big sigh of relief there.
Now, I've been warned that the funicular is slow, and that calling it will let everyone know where I am. So I set up a party for the soldiers! First I moved the unconscious soldiers so that they weren't obvious, two I put behind some crates in a room then shut the door, the other two I put into one of the air vents. That way if soldiers came in, they wouldn't see them and wake them up and give me more problems.
I had a bunch of mines, so I set them up in strategic areas. Then I moved the turret so it covered the main entrance, and turned it back on to "enemies" meaning it would shoot at the soldiers instead of me. I collected all the goodies I could find, placed a gas mine a short distance away from the elevator doors and then I crouched behind the big box that I had set up next to the elevator button where I would have some cover. I saved, made sure I had my handy tranquilizer rifle ready to go and pressed the button.
So there I am, crouched behind this box waiting for a flood of soldiers. BOOM! Okay, that's one that's knocked down (most of the mines were non-lethal as well). One comes running to the main entrance. BOOM! Another comes. BOOM! One comes through the other door and heads up the stairs. I take out the rifle, intending to nail him when he comes around the corner.
He stops to look into the electrical room. BOOM! He's knocked out. A few more soldiers come running into the main entrance. Surprise! There's a turret there and it starts shooting. When the dust settles, there are only two left and they are trying desperately to knock out the turret. At this point, the funicular arrives, and I use my camouflage augment, sneak into the elevator and hit the button.
They never even got close enough to set off the gas grenade, let alone close enough for me to have to trank them! Ben and I exchange a high five and I'm off to the next mission.
I am really having too much fun with this game.
